How will Microsoft Release Windows 10?

By Usama Fayyaz → 7 July 2015

Background

Microsoft previously revealed that it will roll out the next version of Windows, Windows 10 on 29th July 2015. This also made a confusion in the market that how would the company release its upcoming version of windows. But recently Microsoft have cleared this confusion in their blog post and have given the details regarding the release of Windows 10. In its blog post the Redmond giant said that the number of Windows Insider have raised up from 3.7 million (that was in May) to 5 million and they further said that they had also collected 'millions' of 'reservations' for Windows 10 from the public.

How will Microsoft release Windows 10?

When Microsoft announced the releasing date of Windows 10, they also stated regarding its pricing that Windows 10 would be offered as a free upgrade to Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users for one year only. The company has planned to upgrade all of Windows 7 SP 1, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices to Windows 10. But the question arises that how will Microsoft release the new Windows 10 to consumers? So, the answer to this question is that if a user is a Windows 10 tester, it means the one who has installed the Preview (Beta) version of Windows 10 on his device then he will get the upgrade of Windows 10 at the first moment. According to Terry Myerson, Author of the Blog Post:

Starting on July 29th, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users.

Those who are the part of Windows Insider Program, the will get the Windows 10 quickly whereas the rest of the public will have to wait and chill. The volume License Customers can get Windows 10 on 1st August 2015. Terry Myerson further said:

Soon, we will give a build of Windows 10 to our OEM partners so they can start imaging the new devices with Windows 10. The new devices our partners our working on are very exciting, I can't wait to hear your feedback as you get a chance to use them. Soon after, we will distribute a build of Windows 10 to retailers all over the world, so they can assist their customers with upgrades of newly purchased devices that were originally imaged Windows 8.1

This statement made my expectations true as the tech giant will provide Windows 10 first to the computer making companies i.e. Dell, HP etc. so that they can design the devices and gadgets according to the requirement of new Windows, Windows 10. Most probably, the testers will get Windows 10 on 29th July 2015.

Microsoft in its post further elaborated that they will not upgrade such devices to Windows 10 which can't be operated properly through the new Windows. It's a defensive and an offensive step because the company do not wants to be on the negative side as it has been in past due to certain features of Windows 8 and several other reasons while on the other hand it is offensive too as the users with such devices won't be able to taste Windows 10.

Final Words From The Author

So, it seems that Microsoft is quiet busy in promotion of its new Windows and wants every system to be upgraded to it. And in first phase the Windows will be given to the Hardware partners and then to the testers and gradually the public can also get the new Windows 10. So, these are just the statements from Microsoft and we will have to wait till 29th July 2015 to see that whether Microsoft will be able to complete its goals or not and in real how will a user get Windows 10.
